Kim Leung, RDN is director for Tigard-Tualatin School District in Oregon. Kim started out as an assistant director for a K-12 school district in Lompoc, CA and became the director for Goleta Union School District in 2016. While at Goleta, she revamped the program, bringing the department out of the deficit and introducing new and local food items like halibut and salmon. Many of her creations were featured in Food Service Management Magazine’s Best K-12 School Meals in America including deconstructed turkey pot pie, oatmeal sundae, and carnitas street tacos. She was featured in the local newspapers and news channels for her work partnering with local organizations to bring food to hundreds of families during the pandemic. Under Kim’s leadership, Goleta Union Food Services became a model nutrition services program focused on scratch made and locally sourced meals. In her new role at Tigard-Tualatin School District, her goal is to continue her passion in bringing good food to the kids of today. She is also currently serving on the board for the Oregon School Nutrition Association as president. (Tigard, OR)
